It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Scott Lynn Kilburg, a beloved father, husband, brother, and friend. Scott’s journey through life was marked by kindness, generosity, and an unwavering commitment to his family and community.

A Life of Dedication and Love

Born on June 5, 1962, in Dubuque, Iowa, Scott Lynn Kilburg grew up with a profound sense of family values. He graduated from Wahlert High School in 1980, where he was not only a dedicated student but also an avid participant in various extracurricular activities. His passion for sports, particularly basketball and baseball, was evident from a young age, and he continued to be an enthusiastic supporter of local teams throughout his life.

After high school, Scott attended Loras College, where he earned a degree in Business Administration. It was during this time that he met the love of his life, Mary Ellen, with whom he shared 35 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they built a loving home in Dubuque, raising three children, Sarah, Michael, and Jonathan, who were the light of Scott’s life.

A Professional Career and Community Service

Scott’s professional journey was marked by dedication and excellence. He worked for over 30 years at John Deere, where his leadership and expertise earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Scott was deeply involved in his community. He served on the board of several local charities, always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. His generosity and spirit of volunteerism were an inspiration to all who knew him.

A Legacy of Kindness and Compassion

Scott’s greatest legacy, however, is the love and kindness he showed to everyone around him. He was a devoted father, always present at his children’s sporting events, recitals, and school functions. His support and encouragement helped shape their lives, instilling in them the values of hard work, integrity, and compassion.

As a husband, Scott was a true partner to Mary Ellen, sharing in every joy and facing every challenge together. Their relationship was a testament to enduring love and mutual respect, a model for their children and all who knew them.

Scott’s friends remember him as a loyal companion, always ready with a smile, a joke, or a listening ear. His warmth and empathy touched the lives of many, creating bonds that will endure even in his absence.

Honoring a Life Well-Lived

Scott Lynn Kilburg’s passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who loved him, but his memory will live on through the countless lives he touched. His family takes comfort in knowing that he is at peace, reunited with those who have gone before him.

A celebration of Scott’s life will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2024, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Dubuque, Iowa. The family invites all who knew Scott to join them in honoring his memory and celebrating the remarkable life he lived.
